Race Reports
21st January 2012
I've been wondering what to write about Oulton Park (round 9) because it was so eventful for us that I'm afraid I didn't get to pay proper attention to the racing! If Dave writes a race report I'll add it but for now I'm adding my memories of the day, including the end of season dinner dance --- a little late after the event but hey, life is busy!! :) Read about it here.

Well, after I said we'd only have race reports for Rockingham and Oulton this year, Dave decided he'd put pen to paper for Snetterton and Donington, the races he took part in, which you can read by following the links in the sidebar.
Other news is that Pete has bought a race-ready Griff and is looking forward to getting back out on the track. He still has a car in the build stage too.
On Sunday 28th August, Dave, Emma, Emma's Mam and Dad, Pete and Ellie, all went to Barford for stock car racing's historic event. It was cold and windy but the racing was good (if sounding a little tamer than Tom and my stock car racing days! ... or maybe because it was an historic meet) and the atmosphere fantastic. Dave met up with my generation stock car racers and spectators and had a really good day. Listening to him tell me all about it really took me back, a stroll down memory lane, so to speak, as he gave me John Dowson's best wishes and told me John's son has followed in his Dad's footsteps (or tyre tracks!) and is racing stock cars too. When he told me about a stock car for sale I reminded him that history had already repeated itself once (like father like son!) so no drinking beer around people with cars for sale!

At the time of writing only Rockingham and Oulton Park remain unraced, then that will be that for the 2011 season and it will be time for those whose job it is to tot up the points and announce the 2011 champions - crazy eh? How fast the season speeds to its end!
Those of you who know us well will understand why the new CTS Racing website has been long in the wait. It seems silly to try to give reports of the races that are done - though you can read my own reflection of the Tom Stewart Memorial Race at Donington Park on 15th July by following the link on the front page - but the good news is that Dave and Emma will be at Rockingham next weekend. Neither Dave nor Pete will be racing at Rockingham but Dave will have his pen at the ready and Emma will have the camera primed and pointed and I'm promised there will be a race report to add here (I've even prepared the sidebar in anticipation of it!)
The 2011 season has been an odd one for us. So much has happened over the past two years and 2011 has seen us needing to make so many adjustments to how we approach the racing (and everything else). Dave hasn't raced anywhere near as much as he'd have hoped, but then he's had so much else to deal with it's hardly surprising - and maybe even a blessing (though Dave may not agree!).
Pete didn't get to race as much as he'd have liked this year either, but he has a new car in the build and hopefully we'll see much more of him on the circuits in 2012.
Personally, I see 2011 as a transition year for CTS Racing. While 2012 will bring its own challenges (not least, available spends - Dave and Emma have a wedding to pay for!) I'm hoping that it will be a stabilizing year for us all and that the team will go from strength to strengh in the seasons to come. And I hope that you will regularly pop our URL into your web browser's address bar and want to stay up-to-date with our progress; I hope it will be a journey you'll want to share.
Finally, please say hello if you see us at the race track and we'd like to know how you think the website is evolving ... constructive criticism only if you please :) !
